Dreamhack has just announced the first edition of Dreamhack Masters, a tournament boasting a rosy $250,000 prize pool, up for grabs by the best Counter Strike: Global Offensive teams around the world.
The first rounds will begin on the 12th of April, while doors will open for every fan and spectator to witness the knockout stages on the 16th and the 17th.
Lineups for the event are exciting to say the least. There are teams such as China-based TyLoo, the new Team Ancient rebranded as GODSENT, led by former Fnatic in-game leader Markus “pronax” Wallsten, mixed amongst the best teams around the world to ever play the game.
So far, GODSENT had yet to feature in any major event but they have been able to pull their weight.
With pronax alongside Marksu “pronax” Wallsten and Simon “tw1st” Eliasson playing key roles within the team, GODSENT had set about making a cut in the Scandinavian CS: GO cake.
They have famously won Pantamera 2.0 in February, and in March, they qualified for Dreamhack Malmo after they defeated teams the likes of ENCE, FlipSid3 Tactics, and Copenhagen Wolves.
Eitherway, all teams look set for a battle royale and to that end, the organisers of Dreamhack can pat each other on their backs.
“We are extremely proud to introduce DreamHack Masters in Malmö, to offer both Swedish and Danish fans the first dedicated stadium experience for CS:GO,” said Tomas Lyckedal, Business Development Director at Dreamhack.
“We’re looking to beat the production quality of DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca, which was our most successful CS:GO event ever. The visitor experience will be spectacular and we expect millions of fans to tune in online.”
