Astralis starting player Peter ‘dupreeh’ Rothmann has been sidelined after coming down with a potential appendix infection.
The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive star was playing alongside his team in the ESL One Cologne Major when he broke the news on Twitter, informing followers that he will be undergoing surgery for his condition immediately.
Astralis has since announced on Facebook that their comrade will be moved to another hospital for the operation. They also notified everyone that the team will be fielding coach Danny ‘zonic’ Sorenson against Dignitas for a place in the tournament playoffs.
The team went on to win elimination match, despite Dignitas leading 1-0 after an overtime match at de_cobblestone. Astralis then pulled level at de_mirage before proceeding to de_cache for a tense battle, which ended 16-14 in their favour.
Astralis will face Virtus.pro in the quarter-finals of the second-ever million dollar major.
However, this was not the first instance that Astralis had roster problems. Their latest starter, Markus ‘Kjaerbye’ Kjærbye, was ruled as ineligible to attend the major because he participated in the qualifiers for the tournament with his former team, Dignitas.
Still, Astralis may miss dupreeh a little more although Kjaerbye’s stand in, Lukas ‘gla1ve’ Rossander, had put in solid performances for the team. Dupreeh has regularly been rated as the team’s second best player, trailing only behind superstar Nicolai “device” Reedtz.
