Fnatic has officially entered the Overwatch eSports scene after procuring Nubris’s roster.
Arguably one of the biggest eSports franchise in the world, Fnatic already has teams participating in every eSports discipline. They fielded one of the best teams in Counter Strike: Global Offensive last year, who had made a clean sweep of every major tournament last year.
The latest addition to the black-and-yellow family is Nubris, a team of Swedish and American talent that has emerged as the top free agent Overwatch team recently.
The roster has also been tested and proven, having gained experience competing at the top of the game since Overwatch was still in closed beta.
In the team is Andre ‘iddqd’ Dahlstrom and Casey ‘buds’ McIlwaine on DPS, Warsi Faraaz ‘Stoop’ Waris as Tank, Matthew ‘coolmatt69’ Iorio playing flex, while Scott ‘custa’ Kennedy and Oliver ‘Vonethil’ Lager support them.
Fnatic has also brought on Robert ‘Roflgator’ Malecki as team coach.
The squad will set up base in North America as Fnatic also prepares to “invest heavily” in the region.
News of the latest addition had delighted numerous parties in Fnatic’s ranks. Florian “DRUNKKZ3” Le Bihan, Fnatic’s Team Operations Manager, had this to say:
”Today I’m extremely delighted to welcome our new American Overwatch team to Fnatic. We have kept an eye on Overwatch since the very early closed beta days and our desire to support a team in the game only kept growing with time.”
“We went through a very long and careful scouting process during the past few months and had long discussions with the former core players from nubris (coolmatt69, custa, buds and stoop) and two Swedish up and coming talents (iddqd and Vonethil).”
“This allowed us to put together a very strong and promising Overwatch squad able of competing at the top level in the US, with Roflgator there to back up the guys’ performances as a coach.”
While EnVyUs is currently on top of Overwatch team rankings, many predict that Fnatic’s new squad is capable of challenging any team, making their tournament debut one awaited with much eager anticipation.
