Cloud9 League of Legends coach Bok “Reapered” Han-gyu was the victim of a cyber-attack after hackers took over his Twitter account and published private information.
Details that include the team’s competitive scrimmages, account logins in South Korea, personal chat logs, and contact information for several members of North American League of Legends teams were tweeted through Reapered’s hacked account to the public.
The tweets had since been deleted, while Cloud9 made contact with Twitter, Riot Games and Team SoloMid, whose private information was also leaked, to attempt to resolve the issue.
Our Cloud9 accounts platform is already two-stepped,” Cloud9 general manager Danan Flander said.
“We are unsure how they have accessed our scrims or Reapered’s Twitter. Most, if not all of our accounts, are on two-step.”
“It is mandatory on the Cloud9 accounts platform, but we are not able to enforce it across our social platforms outside of notifying players, staff and personalities about its importance.”
Flander also confirmed that Riot had urged professional League players to take advanced security measures on previous occasions, but said that neither Riot nor the Cloud9 organization can force players or staff to take these precautions.
