EnVyUs earned a runaway victory against mousesports by 3-0 in the Gfinity Invitational grand final to win their second tournament of the year.
The tournament saw EnVyUs, mousesports, GODSENT, and Epsilon go head-to-head in a two-day single-elimination bracket.
GODSENT and mousesports were the focus of the tournament after their recent roster shuffle, but mousesports arguably fared better after the changes by earning a resounding 3-1 win against GODSENT.
However, mousesports would lament not defeating EnVyUs in the grand final despite the strong effort they had displayed (de_cache 19-17, de_cobblestone 16-12, de_dust2 16-14).
There were signs of what is to come as nV quickly went up to 11-4 before going over to terrorists. Mousesports somehow were able to equalize the score, and nV’s timeout did not even stop them as mouse reached map point.
It was then that nV finally got their first round with a perfectly-timed B-strike, and with Dan “apex” Madesclaire starting entry into sites, forced overtime and then gone on to pick up the map.
Mousesports then went into de_cobblestone and won the first round, but their dropping of the next anti-forcebuy saw the Frenchmen went on to grab a 5-1 lead on through entries from Vincent “Happy” Schopenhauer and Madesclaire.
As the break ends at 10-5 to nV’s favour, mousesports won a triple from Nikola “NiKo” Kovac, who crept slowly up against matchpoint at 15-12. But after four consecutive rounds conceded, Happy won a AWP triple to put the map to rest.
Facing immediate danger of losing the tournament, mouze went agro and went up to 7-1 thanks to a USP triple from Chris “chrisJ” de Jong and a quad by Denis “denis” Howell on the first gunround.
But once they got the second pistol round, nV won the second pistol round, shut down mouz’s economy twice and never let more than one consecutive round go until they took the lead at 14-13. ChrisJ’s desperate double equalized the score, only for Timothee “DEVIL” Demolon’s triple to secure his team the victory at 16-14.
