The twelve teams that will be playing in the ESL ESEA Pro League Season 4 finals in Brazil have been determined through two months of online qualifiers.
The participants are as following:
- NIP (Europe 1)
- Fnatic (Europe 2)
- Mousesports (Europe 3)
- FaZe Clan (Europe 4)
- EnVyUs (Europe 5)
- Dignitas (Europe 6)
- Cloud (NA 1)
- Immortals (NA 2)
- SK Gaming (NA 3)
- Optic Gaming (NA 4)
- NRG eSports (NA 5)
- Team Liquid (NA 6)
Cloud9 was the first entrant through the North American online qualifiers with a dominating 25-1 record with a single game conceded against Echo Fox. The Immortals will also be joining Cloud9 in Ginasio do Ibirapuera after taking second place.
In third place was SK Gaming, who were due to face Cloud9 across 2 maps, but forfeited their game against the undisputed leaders in favour of a pre-tournament bootcamp.
As for the European region, Swedish teams fnatic and Ninja in Pyjamas were at the summit of the qualifiers wit, with the latter taking first place.
Mousesports and FaZe Clan followed closely, securing 18 out of 26 matches, and EnVyUs only secured their spot after two map wins over dignitas. The Danes and Virtus.pro finished 6th-7th and their head-to-head encounter ended up with each team grabbing a 16-7 win.
This meant that dignitas and VP both have to enter a tiebreaker match to determine who gets the last spot, and after a fierce encounter, Mathias “MSL” Lauridsen’s team came out on top to enter the $600,000 prize pool event.
Still, the exciting team lineups that will feature in the fourth installment of the ESL Pro League would surely present a potential eventful tournament in Brazil.
