Virtus.Pro withdraws from DreamLeague Season 6

Virtus.Pro is the latest team to withdraw from DreamLeague Season 6, fter EG, Team Secret, OG, Na’Vi and NP.

Dream League’s official website announced today that Virtus.Pro have decided not to continue to the LAN Finals of Dream League 6, citing a congested schedule.

The announcement comes just two weeks before the main event, and has subsequently been confirmed in Virtus.Pro’s official Twitter account.

Despite the short notice, Virtus.Pro will be replaced by Alliance, who accepted the invitation to fill VP’s vacant spot.

In recompense, the Russian team will not receive any of the $10,000 they earned for each of their wins in the league stage (10-40). Instead, the money will be re-allocated to the total prize pool of the LAN Finals, which now stands at:

  • 1st place: $90,000
  • 2nd place: $45,000
  • 3rd place: $30,000
  • 4th place: $20,000

The main cause of so many teams withdrawing from DreamLeague was the proximity of the Boston Major to the LAN playoffs.

OG, Team Secret and Evil Geniuses were the first to withdraw even before the tournament had started – The Imperial, Virtus.Pro and NP were brought in as replacements.

Then, after the tournament had already begun, Na’Vi left in week 3 due to roster changes following their failure to qualify for the Boston Major and were eventually replaced by Ad Finem, who kept the same score as Na’Vi (1-1).

In the last week of the competition struggling NP (3-7) also quit, citing congested schedule as the main reason for their decision, as well.

With the mass departure, the final four that will play at the LAN Finals is: Escape Gaming, The Imperial, Team Liquid and Alliance.
