Natus Vincere announced their new Dota 2 lineup, with three players, bound by contract to play together for the next year, joining Danil “Dendi” Ishutin and Victor “GeneRaL” Nigrin.
Na’Vi did not have the best year in 2016, after an early exit in The International 6 and failing to qualify for The Boston Major. Things took a turn for the worst after three of their members left the squad reportedly due to an ‘internal issue’ rolled out to the community.
After their latest roster shuffle, Per Anders Olsson “Pajkatt” Lille will join the 2017 Na’Vi squad as captain, drafter and one-role carry, while Roman “rmN-” Paley and Malthe “Biver” Winther join as supports.
A player from the days of DotA Allstars, Lille has since competed under dozens of banners and alongside many other veterans of the scene, before stepping down from a coaching role at Digital Chaos to reenter the competitive scene for Na’Vi.
“(I’m) Happy to be playing competitive Dota 2 once again, now under the Na`Vi banner.” Lille said in an official statement at Na’Vi’s website. “Looking forward to working hard with my new teammates and hopefully becoming a team we all can be proud to be a part of!”
Paley also has a record stretching far back in Dota, hailing from European squad Fantastic Five, a team that’s been in contention for several European qualifiers in the past. Winther also hails from a European squad in Prodota Gaming, which placed 4th in World Cyber Arena 2016 and the WellPlay Invitational #5.
The new Natus Vincere roster has been formed in anticipation of the upcoming Kiev Major, a hometown premier for this team, taking place April 20-23. The qualifiers, which will start on March 6, will include a CIS region this year, which would include Natus Vincere if the team does not merit a direct invite to the tournament.
