Swedish Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team Ninjas in Pyjamas will continue fielding their talismanic player Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund next year.
Alesund announced earlier today on Facebook that he will staying with NiP for the fifth consecutive year.
Considered the most successful Swedish Counter-Strike player throughout the history of the franchise, GeT_RiGhT was one of the first established CS 1.6 players to transition to CS:GO after signing on with NiP in 2012.
The team went on to make history, winning 87 maps in a row on LAN, a streak that may very well be the most dominant in eSports history.
Since 2015, however, NiP has struggled to retain the same level of performance and have gradually gone through several slumps in terms of performance.
The team failed to qualify for the upcoming ELEAGUE Major, which will take place between Jan. 22-29, making it the first Valve Major the Swedish team will be missing out on since having been introduced to the scene.
Despite those struggles, four players from the original NiP core have stayed together, and the team spirit payed off on 2016 as the team succeeded in taking home two international events at Dreamhack Masters Malmo in April, and IEM Oakland in November, as well as the StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 2.
