Dreamhack Leipzig: teams and schedule details released

DreamHack has announced the attending teams, groups and schedule for their first tournament of the year, DreamHack ZOWIE Open: Leipzig 2017.

This event will be the first of nine DreamHack Open events to be held in 2017.

in Leipzig, eight teams will be attending the event in from January 13th-15th with  two new teams – qwerty and BIG – joining relatively old faces.

Their presence came with a tight schedule around the turn of the year there was no time for a qualifying process. As a result, six of the invited teams will be joined by two teams through additional wild card spots, which went to the recently assembled squads in the form of Mikail “Maikelele” Bill’s qwerty and Fatih “gob b” Dayik’s BIG.

The event’s $100,000 prize pool will be distributed as follows:

  • 1st place – $50,000
  • 2nd place – $20,000
  • 3rd & 4th places – $10,000
  • 5th & 6th places – $3.000
  • 7th & 8th places – $2,000

The opening and winners matches of the group stage will be played in best-of-one formats, while the other fixtures will be played in a best-of-three format. The top two teams from each group will subsequently advance to the semi-finals, where they will fight for a spot in the grand final in a single-elimination bracket.
