BT Sport has announced that they had successfully acquired the rights to broadcast the remaining EA FIFA Majors in this year’s Ultimate Team Championship Series.
The broadcast will showcase FIFA gaming matches live on television.
We will see some of the best FIFA 17 players around the world, competing on both Xbox One and PlayStation4 pitting themselves against each other in the EA FIFA Majors live on TV. Winners of this year’s series will win nearly £130,000, while the runner-up will receive almost half.
Beginning with the next Major event that starts in Vancouver on 8 April, there will be three more majors to be broadcasted live on BT Sport, namely the Asia-Pacific regional final in Singapore on 22 April, the European regional final in Madrid on 6 and the FIFA 17 Ultimate Team Championship Final in Berlin on 20 and 21 May.
“This is yet another example of live innovation from BT Sport,” said BT Sport Chairman Simon Green. “Competitive interactive football gaming is a rapidly growing industry and I’m delighted that BT Sport is now able to showcase it for the first time ever in the UK.”
“There’s a profound opportunity for competitive gaming to achieve mainstream success and the key to accomplishing this is accessibility.” said Todd Sitrin, senior vice president and general manager of EA’s Competitive Gaming Division.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with BT Sport to make our exciting competitions for EA Sports FIFA, the most popular video game in the UK, available across the nation as we move the industry forward.”
