North signs on academy CS:GO team

North has just followed in the footsteps of a number of European teams by bringing in an academy team into their fold.

North, who is also the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive wing of Kobenhavn football club, follows the footsteps of teams such as Fnatic, GODSENT and Gambit Esports in signing an academy team to represent them.

The six members of North Academy are:

  • Nicolai “glace” Jensen
  • Frederik “LOMME” Nielsen
  • Daniel “mertz” Mertz
  • Frederik “acoR” Gyldstrand
  • Nicklas “gade” Gade
  • Alexander “ave” Holdt (Coach)

The team consists of ex-eFuture.dk members Daniel “mertz” Mertz and Frederik “acoR” Gyldstrand, an ex-Rogue representative in Nicolai “glace” Jensen, Frederik “LOMME” Nielsen a 1.6 pro and  Nicklas “gade” Gade who joins the team from relative obscurity.

Topping off the team line-up as coach is Alexander “ave” Holdt, ex-member of the legendary mTw Counter-Strike 1.6 roster.

This is noted to be Kobenhavn’s second attempt in securing a CS:GO roster, with the initial one demonstrating strong results — the most recent of which was a top four placement at the StarLadder StarSeries i-League Season 3 LAN finals, yielding the team $25,000 in prize money.
