Evil Geniuses will be the second team receiving a direct invite to EPICENTER Moscow 2017 after Kiev Major Champions OG.
The TI5 Champions had been consistent in staying ahead of the professional Dota 2 scene, winning China Top, Mars Dota 2 Leagues of 2016 and scoring third in TI6.
Their most recent performance, which saw them advance into the Kiev Major semi-finals before losing 2-0 to eventual champions OG, most likely appealed to organisers that they are a worthy addition to the lineup of teams that features at EPICENTER.
However, it is worth remembering that they essentially fluked in last year’s edition of the event, where they were flattened 2-0 by both to both Team Liquid in the upper bracket and Team Complexity in the loser bracket. The team ended up reaching 5th to 8th place in the tournament despite being predicted to be one of the finalists.
Nonetheless, one would not be put it past them to put on a good show in Russia. As they had done so in many times past, EG always produce and refresh new stratagems that keeps them ahead in Dota 2.
