Day 2 and group stage of the ESL One Cologne event concludes with FaZe Clan grabbing the final slot into the playoff stages.
Playing against North in their last group stage game with a chance to progress, FaZe started off by winning the first of the six rounds, conceding only the first gun round.
However, North, intent on not getting left too far behind grabbed their second with a successful B plant and then three more rounds, making it 5-5 and forcing a tactical pause from FaZe.
Still, the pause was all FaZe needed as they regain dominance and won the next five rounds. Forced to compensate, North then started the second half with on the front foot and managed to win another round with a fast and successful mid to A execution.
But FaZe won the following anti-ecos and also the first gun round, with Nikola “NiKo” Kovac pulling off a 1v2 clutch after picking off two other opponents earlier in the round. On that note, the European mixture would lose just one more round to the Danes before locking down the map, 16-7, to secure a spot into the last-eight stage of the tournament.
Teams qualified for playoffs:
- Natus Vincere
The quarter-finals will be played in front of a live audience at the Lanxess-Arena, culminating with the semi-finals on Saturday and the best-of-five grand final on Sunday afternoon.
