Planet Odd has decided to part ways with their Dota 2 roster just two months after signing up the squad that once was Digital Chaos and Thunderbirds.
The news was broke on Planet Odd’s official Facebook account, which indicated that “after having discussed at length with the players”, the eSports organization “have mutually agreed to part ways with the roster as they wish to embark on to success in different constellations.”
The withdrawing members of Planet Odd include:
- Roman “Resolut1on” Fomnyok
- Rasmus “Misery-” Filipsen
- Martin “Saksa” Sazdov
- Aliwi “w33” Omar
- David “MoonMeander” Tan
As Digital Chaos, the roster had managed a prestigious 2nd place finish in TI6, before going on to claim 3rd-4th place finish at the Boston Major and eventually winning ESL One Genting.
But at that point things only seemed to go downhill for them, and they jumped from DC to Thunderbirds before being picked up by Odd.
They were regaining their old TI6 self back by claiming 2nd place in both Galaxy Battles and DreamLeague Season 7, but they were unable to qualify for The International 2017 — which can be easily speculated as the reason that led to the team mutually agreeing to disband as all 5 players will now look to impart their Dota 2 talent elsewhere.
But the parting of ways turned out to be a good turn of events for Roman “Resolut1on” Fomnyok standing in for Team Empire until Vladmir “Chappie” Kuzmenko receives his passport back from the embassy, meaning that the Ukrainian could well see time in TI7. The futures for the remaining players, however, remains to be seen.
