Team Secret has parted ways with Maurice ‘KheZu’ Gutmann and Noa ‘MP’ Pyo in the first roster shuffle following The International 2017.
Not two days had passed after Team Liquid claimed the crown of the biggest Dota 2 tournament of the year that Secret has announced the news on Twitter.
While the team could have taken consolation from the fact that they were eliminated by Liquid in Round 2 of the lower brackets in TI7, Secret has decided to not to not renew either of the players’ contracts after the 9-12th place finish.
MP had joined Team Secret along with former MVP Phoenix teammate and Korean comrade Lee ‘Forev’ Sang-don in last year’s post-TI shuffle, while KheZu joined as a replacement for ForeV after they failed to qualify for the Boston Major.
Secret had looked to be in top shape before TI with their first-place finish in the European qualifiers, especially after the addition of Yazied ‘YapzOr’ Jaradat to their playing roster.
However, once they started their Group Stage fixtures, Team Secret were unable to perform well and were placed in the Lower Bracket at the Main Stage as a result. Fortunately for them, their Bo1 matchup was against the minnows Execration, who barely qualified for the Main Stage.
But making short work of Execration neither helped the team’s fortune or form as they soon met Team Liquid (who had lost to Invictus Gaming in the Upper Bracket) in the second round.
The series and journey into TI ended then and there by a 2-1 bo3 result for them, crushing their hopes of advancing further in the tournament, while Team Liquid made a miraculous run through the Lower Bracket to later claim the Aegis of Champions.
The members now left in Secret’s current roster are:
- Zheng ‘MidOne’ Yeik Nai
- Yazied ‘YapzOr’ Jaradat
- Clement ‘Puppey’ Ivanov
