Dota 2: Poland to hold first ever Major in Katowice

ESL has announced their ESL One Katowice 2018 as their second Dota 2 major of the season, which will be taking place from 20th to the 26th of February at the Spodek Arena next year.

ESL One Katowice, the first Dota 2 Major to be held in Poland will also be the fifth entry in the 2017-2018 Dota Pro Circuit season, although live audiences will be granted access only for the tournament playoffs on the 25th and 26th of February.

In addition to the new venue ESL One has made a series of changes in their second Major of the season. Firstly, the number of teams has been raised from 8 to16, of which 10 will receive direct invites while 6 will have to fight for a place in LAN event that is worth  the $1,000,000 and 1,500 DCP points via regional qualifiers.

Also, unlike the upcoming ESL One Hamburg major, the one held in Katowice will feature a best-of-five grand finals with additional information on the regional qualifiers, invited teams and prize pool distribution pending announcement on a later date.

But as is tradition, ESL One Katowice will also host the usual IEM Expo for visiting fans in the adjacent International Conference Center of Spodek Arena.

Followers of the event could also get free of charge general admission to both playoffs days of ESL One Katowice major as well as to the IEK Expo, with those who want a further unique experience will be able to purchase Priority or Premium access to ESL One Katowice 2018.

Tickets for ESL One Katowice is set to go on sale next month.
