Pro Circuit Qualifiying Points: 150
OG has received the only direct invite to the Summit 8 Minor so far as the house-based LAN event kicks-off next month.
The Dota 2 event, held since 2014 has obtained Minor st for the new Valve Pro Circuit Major/Minor season, meaning that teams will be competing for both TI8 qualifying points and a $300,000 prize pool — increased from last season’s $100,000 reward.
However, there will be only a single direct invite to the event. With OG claiming that honour and OpTic Gaming winning the spot reserved for the champions of King’s Cup: America, other teams who wants a go at the prize money and points have to progress through their respective regional qualifiers, which begins on November 4th.
OG, who were also noticeably absent from Summit 7, marks their return as the team’s second appearance in the Pro Circuit. Virtus.Pro had successfully defended their title at the event then, steamrolling through the event without repeating a single hero selection until the fifth game of the Grand Finals.
They had entered the event then amidst public backlash at the team in regards to limited drafting and strategic plan, but quickly silenced their critics and then continued to impress through the rest of the year with a knockout season ending with a 5-6th place finish at TI7.
However, due to miscommunication between BTS and Virtus.Pro staff, the team was not directly invited back to defend their title and will participate via the regional qualifiers instead as they aim to repeat their stellar performance and complete a hat-trick of Summit titles.
