Team Liquid were made to labour before coming back from two games down in their 3-2 grand final victory against Vici Gaming to win the AMD Sapphire Dota PIT League.
Although considered a minor in the Dota 2 Pro Circuit season, the event had been a thrilling one with teams such as The International 7 finalists NewBee and Team Liquid featured in the various match-ups.
Vici, who were condemned to the loser’s finals earlier in the day, had already fought out a drawn out battle against compatriots NewBee to secure a rematch against Liquid in the final stage.
Already schooled once before, Vici started the title decider unafraid. In both game 1 and game 2 with Liquid dominating in the start, VG would keep their feet grounded and make tactical plays that eventually won them the rounds.
In game 3 however, it was all Liquid who went in with easy picks that allowed a decimation of VG across the board, and only 20 minutes into the game they were taking two lanes of tier three towers and forced out the GG call. Rattled, VG made a shoddy start at game 4, allowing their opponents to farm core items within 20 minutes and take the game to the last round in less than 30.
Although Vici Gaming had a strong draft as well in game 5, Liquid’s multiple combos and perfect executions brought them victory, and at the 15 minutes mark they were holding a 15k gold lead while cutting through VG to ribbons, allowing them a swift and
