Fnatic has recruited Filipino Abed “Abed” Yusop and benched midlaner Steve “Xcalibur” Ye following troubled times in their Dota 2 Pro Circuit journey.
The decision to bench Xcalibur came after Fnatic had gone through five tournament qualifiers and failing to come up on top of any of them. Even with luck seeing them participating at the ESL One Hamburg major in place of HappyFeet and the AMD SAPPHIRE Dota Pit Minor for Mineski, they finished at the bottom two in both events.
However, Fnatic’s decision will bring them a penalty in Pro Circuit qualifying points earned if they are to reach any of the minors and majors before the next shuffle window.
Fnatic current roster consists of:
- Jacky ‘EternaLEnVy’ Mao
- Abed ‘Abed’ Yusop
- Chong Xin ‘Ohaiyo’ Khoo
- Djardel ‘DJ’ Mampusti
- Johan ‘pieliedie’ Åström
Reserve:Abed “Abed” Yusop
Coach: Adam ‘Adam/343’ Shah
At the same time, Fnatic will see the return of a familiar face in former player Adam Shah, formerly known as “343”, who rejoins the team as coach. He will be replacing Ahmad “ADTR” Syazwan in this role.
Adam has been part of the Fnatic active roster and their drafter at The International 2016 when they placed 4th in Seattle, which is their best record in the annual event so far.
“Hyped to be part of Fnatic again,” the Malaysian said after rejoining his former squad. “There’s a long road ahead of us and I’m looking forward to the ride!”
