SK has won ESL Pro League Season 6 by a 3-1 score over FaZe Clan (Inferno 13-16, Overpass 16-11, Mirage 16-9, Train 19-16).
It was all FaZe at Inferno as Epitacio “TACO” de Melo’s double kill in round seven only allowed SK to add their second round to the board. Still another TACO double and retake see SK grabbing hold of the match, with a mid-round banana retake paying off and seeing them tie the score at 6-6.
Still, FaZe finished the first half by 8-7, pulled the second half through ecos if not for SK managing to win with limited buys. At 12-10 in favor of FaZe, when the map could’ve gone either way, the European side was able to take it over the finish line in the end, winning Inferno 16-13.
Both teams traded rounds at the start of Overpass with FaZe taking a slim lead into the break. But when the Europeans went for B in pistol they couldn’t stave off the retake, allowing SK successful consecutive bombsite defenses to lead 14-9. Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo and TACO, who locked down B to move on to match point, saw a little resistance before FaZe yielded at 16-11.
Mirage was completely one-sided he Brazilians run away with the first half, finishing at 13-2, with Nikola “NiKo” Kovac finishing the whole map with just one kill. But Havard “rain” Nygaard’s frag triple in the second pistol gave FaZe hope while NiKo also started contributed in bringing the score back to 14-9. However, it was a bridge too far as SK won their last two rounds as the Brazilians foiled a pistol middle and Marcelo “coldzera” clutching out a 1v2 on the A site to take the lead in the series.
SK also started perfectly at Train, with FalleN firing up eight straight rounds before FaZe could get on the board. But learning not to fall too far like before, FaZe dug in, with Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovacs, and rain focing the the score to a more even 8-7.
FaZe went on to take the first few rounds after the break, but SK got a 14-11 lead after a forcebuy that soon allowed them SK match point, and it was thanks to a desperation buy that worked out for FaZe that eventually pushing the game into overtime. In added rounds, rounds were traded before FalleN’s triple with the AWP in round 33 and and SK’s B site offensive in the follow-up allowed them to close out the game 19-16 and bag yet another ESL title.
