Dota 2: LGD Gaming to field new roster without Yao ‘Yao’ Zhengzheng

LGD Gaming is set to field a new roster in 2018 with the notable exclusion of team veteran Yao ‘Yao’ Zhengzheng, who will be benched after six years of playing for the organization.

Yao’s role in the team will be assumed by the former WG Unity Support Jian Wei ‘xNova-’ Yap.

There has been a long-standing relationship between Yao and the Chinese organization since August 2011, who played either at the main squad or briefly at CDEC Gaming or LFY. In his six years as a significant part of the team, Yao saw LGD finish third at TI2, top 6 at TI4, third again at TI5 and fourth at TI7.

However, after the latest International, LGD Gaming registered a rather disappointing period and gathered only 202.5 Circuit points on the back of their second place at the PGL Open Bucharest Minor. The abysmal streak led to a drastic action in the roster change.

It began with Chen ‘Victoria’ Guanhong being transferred to CDEC Gaming mid-December and replaced by Yang ‘Chalice’ Shenyi from Team MAX,  while on New Year’s day, the organization announced Yao to step down and ‘entering an inactive period’ as xNova- assumes his role.

Xu ‘fy’ Linsen will be returning to the position he is most known for, support 4, while Chalice will take the offlane.

LGD Gaming current roster from position 1 to 5:

  1. Wang ‘Ame’ Chunyu
  2. Lu ‘Somnus/Maybe’ Yao
  3. Yang ‘Chalice’ Shenyi
  4. Xu ‘fy’ Linsen
  5. Jian Wei ‘xNova-‘ Yap

Fans can catch the revamped LGD Gaming line-up in action as they enter the regional qualifiers for the PGL Bucharest Major, the ESL One Katowice Major, and the StarLadder i-League Invitational season 4 Minor.
