Fnatic: Universe in, Ohaiyo out of Dota 2 roster ahead of lock

Saahil ‘UNiVeRse’ Arora will be replacing long-time offlaner Chong Xin ‘Ohaiyo’ Khoo in the Fnatic Dota 2 lineup just in time for the roster lock period and ESL Genting.

Almost half a month had gone by after Evil Geniuses made the shocking announcement that the organization had parted ways with UNiVeRse, who became a free agent after EG added  Rasmus ‘MiSeRy’ Filipsen to the lineup and switched Sumail ‘SumaiL’ Hassan into the offlane.

As with UNiVeRse’s own parting of ways with EG, Ohaiyo’s departure is somewhat of a surprise for many fans too since the offlaner had also been with the organization since 2015 — for almost three years — after Fnatic had returned to the Dota 2 scene.

This would also be the second change in lineup since the SEA-based team has made since forming after TI7. Early in November, following a rough start in the Dota Pro Circuit, Fnatic announced a few changes in within their team by benching Steve ‘Xcalibur’ Ye and welcoming Abed ‘Abed’ Yusop. The team then certainly enjoyed improved results — qualifying for Dota Summit 8 with a 2nd place main event finish, DreamLeague Season 8 Major resulting in 7-8th place overall finish as well as securing a place in the ESL One Katowice Major.

At present, Fnatic is ranked at 11 and already has 202.5 total points in the ProCircuit; but with each player has 67.5 points each and bringing on board UNiVeRse with his 255 points will see the team edge even close to the top 8 positions with a total of 390 points, putting them ahead of Na’Vi who has 315 points in 9th place.

Fnatic’s Dota 2 roster now looks thus:

  • Jacky ‘EternaLEnVy’ Mao
  • Abed ‘Abed’ Yusop
  • Saahil ‘UNiVeRse’ Arora
  • Djardel ‘DJ’ Mampusti
  • Johan ‘pieliedie’ Åström
