Iceiceice banned from Twitch after racial slur on stream

Daryl Koh “iceiceice” Pei Xiang, Singapore’s most famous Dota 2 player has been punished for using a racial slur while streaming.

The incident came in an eventful five-day period for Mineski, after iceiceice himself had hugely contributed in the team’s victory at the Dota 2 Asian Championship 2018 last Sunday and subsequently claimed the last direct invite to the ESL One Birmingham Major.

The current Mineski offlaner was asked about his first-name, and in response, iceiceice used a racial slur when describing why he did not like the name.

Immediately following his use of the slur, the 27-year-old changed his vocabulary use by calling it a “black person’s name,” adding that his parents named him after a character in a TV show.

Soon after, the player has received an “internal reprimand” from his current team Mineski.

His Twitch channel appears to have also been shut down, in what was the latest in a string of incidents over hate speech in esports this year.

While it is unclear if he would be eligible to compete due to the incident, Iceiceice and Mineski are scheduled to attend the upcoming ESL One Birmingham Major on May 23.-gamingtech
